An Oakville optometry practice that patients can actually find

A template site that did not work on phones, replaced with a website built around how people search for an optometrist. Search impressions grew almost sevenfold in six months.

The problem

Dr. Mungar has practised at the same Lakeshore Road address since 1998, and a good share of the practice is families who first came through the door years ago. The reputation was never in question. The website was.

It ran on an outdated template, and it did not work properly on phones or tablets. On a practice where mobile now accounts for 43% of all search impressions, that meant roughly four in ten people who found the practice landed on something they could barely read.

The bigger issue was structure. Everything the practice offers sat on one page. Someone searching for emergency eye care, or children's eye exams, or vision therapy had nothing specific to land on, so Google had nothing specific to rank.

What we built

A new site, built mobile first, with a page for each thing the practice is actually searched for rather than one page trying to cover everything.

Dedicated service pages

Separate pages for emergency eye care, children's eye exams, vision therapy and specialty contact lenses, each written to answer a specific search.

Location targeting

Pages built for Oakville and for south Mississauga, where a meaningful share of the patient base travels from.

Mobile first

Rebuilt so the 43% of visitors arriving on a phone get a site designed for them rather than a desktop layout squeezed down.

Ongoing local SEO

Monthly keyword work, Google Business Profile management and new pages as the practice grows.

Six months after launch

Measured in Google Search Console, February to August 2026.

More monthly search impressions, from 738 in February to 5,038 in August
3.2x

Pages now indexed and earning traffic, against a handful before

Average ranking position moved from 12.3 to 17.6 over the same period. That is expansion rather than decline. The site now appears for a far wider set of searches, including competitive ones where it currently sits on page two, and those pull the average down while adding traffic.

Where the traffic comes from

The service pages carry their own weight. Each of these earns traffic that the old single-page site had no way of capturing.

The practice also holds the top position for its own name, which matters more than it sounds. Patients who hear a recommendation and search for it now find the practice first rather than a directory listing.
