WordPress web design in Oakville

Built on WordPress so you own the site outright, can edit it yourself, and are never paying rent on your own web presence.

The problem

Most website platforms are a tenancy. You build on Wix, Squarespace or Shopify, and the site exists only as long as you keep paying. Stop, and there is nothing to take with you, because the pages were never files you owned.

That matters most at the point you want to leave. Migrating off a hosted platform usually means rebuilding from scratch, which is exactly why the model works so well for the platform.

WordPress is the opposite arrangement. The site is a set of files and a database that belong to you. You can move host, change developer, or hand it to someone in-house, and everything comes with you.

It is also why roughly two in five websites run on it, which means a deep pool of developers, plugins and documentation rather than one company's roadmap.

Why WordPress for a local business

Not the only right answer, but the right one most of the time.

You own it outright

Files and database are yours. No platform can change its terms, raise its price, or discontinue a feature you depend on.

No fee per sale

Hosted ecommerce platforms take a cut of revenue. WooCommerce does not, which compounds as you grow.

You can edit it

Text, photos, new pages and prices without calling anyone. The handover covers exactly how.

Not dependent on me

Any WordPress developer can pick it up. That should matter to you, and I would rather say it than pretend otherwise.

Genuinely extensible

Booking, ecommerce, memberships and integrations exist as mature plugins rather than something to build from nothing.

Better for SEO

Full control over structure, schema, redirects and page speed, rather than whatever the platform decides to output.

Nothing here is a platform limitation story. Each of these grew because the site was structured properly, which WordPress permits and hosted platforms often do not. See all the work.

Common questions

Is WordPress secure?

Yes, when it is maintained. Nearly every WordPress site that gets compromised was running outdated plugins. Kept current, it is as secure as anything else, which is what the maintenance plan is for.

Is WordPress slow?

Badly built WordPress is slow, usually from bloated themes and thirty plugins. Built lean and hosted properly, it is fast. Page speed is part of every build here.

Can I edit the site myself?

Yes, and the handover covers it. Text, photos, new pages and prices are all straightforward. Most clients manage their own content within a week.

What about Wix or Squarespace?

They are genuinely fine for a simple site you never intend to move. The trade is that you do not own it and cannot take it with you. For a business that expects to grow, that trade gets worse over time.

Do I need to buy a theme?

No. Sites here are built custom rather than assembled from a purchased theme, which is why they do not look like anyone else's.

What if I already have a WordPress site?

Then it may be repairable rather than replaceable. Send me the URL and I will tell you honestly which it is.

Send me your URL and I will send back a plain-English audit of what is working, what is not, and what it would take to fix. No charge, no pitch deck.
